Mandatory Live on Campus Policy:  All students whose permanent homes are outside the tri-county (Grant, Luna, Hildalgo) area and who register for fall semester as full-time students, (face to face or on-line) with less than 32 credit hours are required to live in WNMU residence halls for the full academic year.  Only the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs/Residence Life may waive this requirement.  Any request for a waiver must be presented in writing prior to registering for first semester classes.        

 

Students who have a permanent home address in the tri-county (Grant, Luna, Hidalgo) areas or who are 21 years of age or older are exempt from this requirement, if residing at their permanent address.                                

 

Mandatory Meal Plan Policy:  Anyone residing in WNMU Residence Halls is required to purchase a meal plan unless special permission is granted by the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs/Residence Life.    (The University makes every attempt to work with students and the University Food Service Provider to provide diets that will accommodate  students  medical issues.)

 

Waiver Requirements

 

Housing Waiver

            Students who are mandated to reside on campus but are requesting a waiver to the University policy must submit the following:

1.      A written request for waiver.       

2.      Documentation verifying what immediate relative they will be residing with:

a.       Utility bill in relatives name with physical address

b.      Notarized letter verifying relationship to the student., responsibility for student residing the entire academic year, and physical address.

3.      If a single parent, birth certificate of child.

The AVPSA will respond in writing on the decision after careful review of all documentation presented within 5 to 10 working days.

 

Meal Plan Waiver

            Students who reside in the three traditional residents halls and are required to have the meal plan but are requesting a waiver for medical reasons to the University Policy must submit the following:

1.      A written request for waiver

2.      Medical documentation and/or physician letter ( on physician’s letterhead) with information and guidelines of medical issue.

The AVPSA will respond in writing on the decision after careful review of all documentation presented within 5 to 10 working days.
