We have assembled a faculty experienced in law enforcement and criminal justice both in remote border areas and major metropolitan areas. In addition to practical, real world experience the criminal justice faculty brings a solid record of academic achievement to the classroom. Our adjunct faculty includes experienced police officers, prosecutors and defense lawyers from some of America's largest cities.

Curtis Hayes, Professor of Criminal Justice
J.D., University of Utah

Curtis Hayes practiced law for ten years, nine as a prosecutor in New Mexico. He is certified as an instructor by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety.

Steven M. Chavez, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice/Police Academy Director
M.A.T., Western New Mexico University; M.S., Troy State University

Steve Chavez has served 14 years in law enforcement, including assignments as under-sheriff, detective, patrol officer, crime scene technician and hostage negotiator.

Andy Warren is a former Public Defender for Western Kansas. He has worked as special public defender with major case responsibility, tribal criminal advocate and tribal prosecutor.

David Long, Instructor
M.L.S. Fort Hays State University.

David Long is a retired sergeant with the Houston Police Department, Special Operations Division, Special Response Group supervisor, and has 28 years of law enforcement experience.
