My name is David Long and I am retired from the Houston Police Department, where I served 23 years. At the time of my retirement, I was a sergeant assigned to the Special Operations Division, Special Response Group. As such I assisted in such things as major event planning (Super Bowl XXXVIII, 2004 Major League All-Star Game, 1990 Republican Convention, etc.), dignitary protection, and response to any disasters that occurred in Houston area. I earned an undergraduate degree in Business & Economics from the State University of New York at Saratoga Springs, and my Masters in Criminal Justice Management from Ft. Hays State University in Kansas. Prior to that, I served four years in the United States Army, stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC as a Military Policeman.
I now live in New Mexico, have three grown children and two grandchildren. My pastime/passion is running. I love to train and run races of various lengths, but mostly half-marathons and marathons are my favorite. I also love hiking in the mountains both here and in Colorado. My lovely wife Judy and I enjoy our life here tremendously and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I absolutely love computers and teaching, so this opportunity to be a part of Western’s on-line course offerings is perfect for me. |
