    Area I – Communications (9 hrs)

    • ENGL 101 – Composition & Rhetoric I
    • ENGL 102 – Composition & Rhetoric II
    • COMM 110 – Public Speaking

    Area II – Mathematics (3 hrs)

    • A college-level mathematics course

    Area III – Laboratory Science (8 hrs)

    • Two general science courses with labs – may be from two different fields

    Area IV – Social and Behavioral Sciences (6-9 hrs)

    • PSY 102 – General Psychology
    • SOC 101 – Intro to Sociology
    • ECON 201 – Principles of Macroeconomics or POLS 201 – American National Gov’t
    • ANTH 201 – Cultural Anthropology

    Area V – Humanities and Fine Arts (6-9 hrs)

    • HIST 111 or 112 – World Civilization I or II
    • HIST 201 or 202 – American History I or II
    • ART 211, MUSC 111, or THR 110 -  Art, Music, or Theater Appreciation
    • Any 200-level ENGL literature course
    • PHIL 100 – Intro to Philosophy

    The total credits from Areas IV and V must be 18 hours.

    Computer Literacy (3 hrs)

    • CMPS 111 – Computer Literacy
