M. Fred Barraza
Adjunct Instructor of Drawing & Art
M. (Manuel) Fred Barraza teaches Drawing 1 & 2, Life Drawing and Studio Drawing courses. Fred was educated at USMC & WNMU.
Fred is a multimedia artist, working in printmaking, painting, illustrations and sculpture & has had an official starving artist Fine Arts business since 1985. He has illustrated covers for over a dozen books and has illustrated a children’s bilingual book titled, “The Cactus Wren and the Cholla” that won the nationwide “Arroz Con Leche” Awardin 1997. He has designed posters for various local and state organizations. A Reading in New Mexico & Sky’s the Limit reading posters can be seen at WNMU Miller Library.
Fred served 14 years on the WNMU Foundation Board, 4 years with the New Mexico Arts Division as a panelist for the Culturally Diverse and Art Projects & Multidisciplinary organizations, Coordinator for the NM SOS! (Save Our Sculpture) for a Three county area in NM, and is an honorary Delta Mu Delta at WNMU.
