Active participant in the American Democracy Project using arts as civic
engagement for students. Direct plays in Estes Park, Co. in the summers.
Play violin in the University Orchestra.
Five years professional experience as a Theatrical Sound Designer and Director.
Currently teaching technical theater classes and acting as the Production Manager
for the Fine Arts Center Theatre. Ann Marie Elder brings a wealth of education
and diverse experiences in theater to WNMU. She is a graduate Ohio University
in Athens Ohio where she earned her MFA in a dedicated program of study with
emphasis in Sound Design, Directing, and Stage Management. She was the Production
Manager for OVST, Ohio University's Summer Theater and then moved to the Tampa
Bay Area in Florida. While in Florida she earned experience as the Resident Sound
Designer for three local theaters including the Asolo Conservatory Theater, part
of the Florida State University Actor Conservatory Program as well as American
Stage, a professional regional theater in St. Petersburg. She earned sound design
credit for at least 40 productions in just a few years. Also working as a director
in the area, Ann Marie's favorites include Bus Stop, The Dining Room, True West,
and Uncle Bends (an area premier). Ann Marie gained teaching experience at Manatee
Community College as well as being a guest lecturer at the University of South
Florida in Tampa.
