To compete in today's job market, students look for training where they find a low student-teacher ratio and awesome graphic arts facilities. The Graphic Arts program and the WNMU Computer Lab facilities offer cutting edge graphic and website development software, the latest hardware, well-designed PC and MAC computer labs, large-format printers, electronic drawing pads and scanners. Everything students need to enter the competitive graphic arts job market and succeed is offered in the WNMU Graphic Arts 2-year degree program.
Graphic Design students work in modern, spacious facilities learning the tricks of the trade for a wide variety of challenges and careers, including: website design and development, electronic imaging, illustration, motion graphics, logos and corporate identity, advertising design, brochures and package design, interactive design, magazine and book design, typography and media design.
Fifty percent of the program graduates go directly into jobs in the Silver City area and others become professionals in cities and towns nationwide. Graphic Design graduates are prepared and employable anywhere they choose to live because of a marketable skill-set and experience from internships where they jump into real-world work environments. Whether choosing to be a part of an existing business or to start a new one, crucial knowledge for a professional graphic arts designer or website developer prepares students to "take care of business" in the creative field of their choice.
