Directs The WNMU Mustang Drum Line/Percussion
Ensemble, The Rio Pan Steel Drum Band, the jazz ensemble
and jazz combo. Jim also serves as the Director of The
WNMU Southwest Jazz Festival and The WNMU Day of Percussion
As a composer, Jim Carey has written several
works including “Brazilian Raindrops”, “Absconding
Thoughts”, “Is It Gone” and “Of
Western Skies”. Jim has performed with artists
such as The Fifth Dimension, Jack Jones, Frankie Avalon,
Roger Williams, Anthony Newly and David Brenner. He
has served as the musical director for The Nation Audubon
Society and Norwegian Cruise Lines and has performed
for former President, Jimmy Carter. His television credits
include Carnival Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line.
He is an active member of The Percussive Arts Society,
International Association for Jazz Education, International
Association of Pan, College Music Society and Music
Educators National Conference. Jim also serves on the
Board of Directors for the International Association
of Pan. Jim Carey represents Dynasty Percussion, Panyard
Inc., Mapex Drums and Innovative Percussion Inc. as
an artist and clinician.
