North America and South America, So Close Yet So Far

South America and North America are not very far apart but are very different from each other. The weather, the seasons of the year, language, and customs are some of the differences between South America and North America. One of the things that brings a lot of money to these two places is tourism. A lot of people visit these places every year. One thing that people should to do before going is learn a little bit about the differences between them.

If you are a person looking for a place where you can clearly see the four seasons of the year, you should go to North America. In many parts of North America, you can distinguish the four seasons very well. At the beginning of the year, it is winter and can be very cold, perfect if you like snow and winter activities. In the middle of March, you may start to notice that the weather is changing. Spring starts, the flowers are blooming, and the trees’ Leaves are growing again. From the end of May to the end of August is summer. The temperature is sometimes extremely hot, and you can’t even leave your house without sweating. This season is good if you like going to the beach or practicing summer sports like swimming, surfing, and fishing. September starts the last season of the year. Autumn is the season when the leaves start falling and the grass and leaves change color.

In South America, you cannot notice all the seasons very clearly. The majority of the year is summer or winter, but the winter in South America is not like in North America. Only in a few places you can find snow and temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius. The summer is the most attractive season in South America. The weather is perfect, the temperature is close to 30 degrees Celsius every day, the beaches are full of people, and it is perfect to go out with your friends and have a lot of fun. The summer in South America, however, is not in July but in December and the winter is from June to August. Also, the spring starts in September, and the autumn begins in April.

The language is another thing that is different between these two continents. In most of the countries of South America, the native language is Spanish, but you can also find Portuguese in Brazil. This is because most of the countries in South America were Spanish colonies, and Portugal also had settlers there, specifically in Brazil.

In North America, you can hear Spanish in Mexico, but the most abundant language is English: the native language in USA and Canada. If you are looking for a place to vacation, you should look for a place where you would feel comfortable. If you speak English, you should go to North America but if you speak Spanish or Portuguese you should go to South America.

Another thing that you should analyze before deciding where you want to go for your holidays is the customs of these two distinct places. One of the most different customs is the food. In North America, people are used to eating more junk food than people from South America. Another thing that many people noticed while visiting these two different cultures is that people in the North eat more white meat and people from the South eat more red meat. If you are planning to have fun in your vacations, you should choose the best season or the best part of the year to visit one of these places. In South America, for example, in the middle of February has what we call “carnival”. It is a very traditional week in South America. People go out with friends to party and to have fun. In Brazil, we have two days when people go to a place called “sambodromo”, to see the parades. It is very beautiful, and the clothing and the way people dance are amazing.

In North America, one of the best times of the year to go is between February and April when all the schools and colleges stop for a week, a time known as Spring Break. People travel a lot during Spring Break, with the southern part of the country being the part that people prefer the most. Florida is one of the best places to visit during Spring Break because of the beaches and, if you like to party, you can do it every day.

These two amazing continents are very beautiful and have their own characteristics. The best way to learn about the culture of these two places is traveling. If you have the opportunity to go to these countries, you should go. If you have problems deciding where to go, you should talk to a travel agent to help you decide on the best place to visit. He can give you some examples customs and activities and then the decision will be easier for you. No matter where you decide to visit, North America and South America are both unique and interesting places.
