Mission Statement
I am an excellent teacher who respects and values her students.
I will bring the world of science to life in a way that fascinates and engages
my charges. I will remember that they were born loving to learn and will keep
their desire to discover alive by giving them the opportunity to know science
as a logical and approachable subject. I will offer them the freedom to work
with their hands as well as their minds, knowing that we learn by doing.
I will model and expect tolerance and acceptance in my classroom. I will think
of the impact that my words and actions have in allowing and encouraging my
students to accept themselves and one another. I will give them specific examples
of the contributions that their own cultures have made to science, knowing
that this exposure to their own and others’ cultures and values will
help them to develop pride and live more successfully in the world outside
of the classroom.
I will consider the disparate development and learning approaches in my students
and ensure that each receives education relevant to his or her style of learning
and appropriate for his or her developmental stage. I will keep myself refreshed
and renewed, continuously learning from others’ research and observations.
I am a scientist ... I am an excellent teacher.
