Cryptantha pterocarya var. cycloptera is an early-spring blooming upright Cryptantha with small white flowers present in scorpioid cymes. It usually has only one upright stem in the early spring, but can be several branched from the base by May. The nutlets are all alike (as opposed to var. pterocarya) and have obvious wings. Cryptantha pterocarya is a lower elevation herb that prefers direct sunlight and sandy soils.
