Elaeagnaceae
(Oleaster Family)


The Elaeagnaceae Family is represented by only one species in the Gila National Forest, Elaeagnus angustifolia, the Russian Olive. It is a shrub or small tree with grayish leaves. The young twigs and leaves are pubescent. The younger bark is shiny and sometimes reddish, while the older bark is shreddy.
