Presented in Association with the
Western New Mexico University Department of Natural Sciences

(Ocotillo Family)

The Fouquieriaceae are represented by only one species in the Gila National Forest, Fouquieria splendens. The petioles of some leaves persist as the spines. There are five petals, which are joined into a tube. The fruit is a capsule.
