Pedaliaceae
(Unicorn Plant Family)

The Pedaliaceae (previously the Martyniaceae) are annual herbs with relatively large, long petioled leaves. The flowers are irregular. The most conspicous trait is a long fleshy capsule with a beak. In the Gila National Forest, only one genus (Proboscidea) represents the family.

Proboscidea althaeifolia (Hollyhock Devil's Claw)
Proboscidea parviflora (Wooton's Devil's Claw)
