Linum vernale Wooton

Cathartolinum vernale (Wooton) Small
Linum vernale is a short herb much branched from the base. The flower cannot be
mistaken for any other because of the three colored zoning. The inner portion of the
petal is bright red, followed by a narrow zone of white or pale yellow. The largest and
outermost portion of the petal is bright orange-yellow. Linum vernale is found in lower to middle
elevations on rocky slopes.
