This portfolio-based program provides extensive field experience to enhance classroom learning and guides pre-service students to performance outcomes in:

  • Effective Communications
  • Student advocacy
  • Assessment of self and learners
  • Professionalism in the learning community
  • Quality of life
  • Use of technology
  • Classroom management

Professors with public school experience teach courses that maximize opportunities for student thinking and achievement.

Professors closely monitor student progress while utilizing multiple ways of assessing student work.

Methods courses focus on the individual and developmental needs of children and tackle such issues as exceptional students and students with disabilities.

Integration of technology in classroom instruction is addressed throughout the program.

A program completer is qualified for a 7-12 secondary education license in the State of New Mexico.
