This portfolio-based program provides extensive field experience (internship) to prepare teachers, educational professionals, and other professionals by building increased awareness, knowledge and skills for a variety of leadership roles. Leadership, communication, curriculum, assessment, teacher evaluation, and the use of technology are taught by way of active student participation and decision making. Professors with public school teaching and administrative experience closely monitor student progress while utilizing multiple ways of assessing student work. Candidates in educational leadership also focus on the various educational designs that maximize student learning and achievement. The State of New Mexico Administrator Competencies and best education-leadership practices developed by the National Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) , as well as other learned educational societies, are met. A program completer is qualified for an administrative license in the State of New Mexico.(Note: Licensure regulations require that a candidate must hold a level II teaching license.) |
