Robert Kasten, a man of good humor, great caring, and a wonderful contagious love of life, is hereby named to the WNMU Education Hall of Fame. The enduring trait that Mr. Kasten upheld while
teaching music and science for 22 years in the Cobre district was keeping
the student's best interest at heart. His positive attitude helped boost
teacher morale and he mentored beginning teachers on accepting that, "learning
isn't what one teaches, but how one teaches". Robert Kasten was not
a native New Mexican, but his love of this area's culture, language, and
history gained him acceptance and respect. Mr. Kasten's legacy reminds
us that dignity and respect are still a mark in the field of education.
