This portfolio-based program provides extensive field experience to enhance classroom learning and guides pre-service students to performance outcomes in:

Student advocacy
Assessment of self and learners
Professionalism in the learning community

Use of technology
Classroom management

Professors with public school experience teach courses that maximize opportunities for student thinking and achievement.

Professors closely monitor student progress while utilizing multiple ways of assessing student work.

Methods courses focus on the individual and developmental needs of children and tackle the inclusion and pull-out of exceptional students.

Integration of technology in classroom instruction is addressed throughout the program.

A program completer is qualified for a k-12 special education license in the State of New Mexico.
