Interdisciplinary
Master's Degree (M.A.)
The Department of Social Sciences participates in programs leading to the
master's degree. The University offers thesis and non-thesis options. Most
programs require 36-39 credit hours.
In the Interdisciplinary MA degree program, students create an individual
program of study integrating two or three major disciplinary areas. In
recent years, as an example, students have chosen to create History-English,
History-Sociology and History-Geography programs of study.
The Department of Social Sciences also cooperates with the School of
Education, offering courses in support of masters degrees in counseling and
educational leadership as well as Master of Arts in Teaching degrees.
