Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Social Work and Modern Languages-Spanish from Kansas State University Master of Social Work (MSW) from Washington University in St. Louis
When I was really little I wanted to help others by sending suit cases of SpaghettiOs to hungry kids around the world. As I got older, I was drawn to the field of Social Work as a route to helping others in sustainable ways—not with SpaghettiOs but by using professional knowledge, skills, and values!
The majority of my professional experience has been in rural communities. The focus of my work has been in clinical social work as a mental health therapist, in medical social work with people and families living with end stage kidney disease, and in end of life care as part of a hospice team. I have enjoyed providing supervision for social work practicum students and clinical supervision for licensure. I have spent extended time in Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.
Humor, creativity, kindness, flexibility and perseverance are some traits I find very inspiring.
