ADVISING TASK FORCE
February 5, 2001 Minutes
The Advising Task Force met at 3:30 p.m. in the Serna Conference Room on February 5, 2001. After much discussion it was decided that there are sufficient known problems with advising that would warrant the institution considering the development of an Advising Center.
Problems noted were:
- Lack of knowledge of prerequisites, changes in degree requirements, etc.,
- Unavailability of advisors,
- Lack of knowledge by advisors of institutional services that are available to students, and
- Tendency for current advising to be limited to class scheduling.
Members of the group have been asked to bring their thoughts as to what kind of advising center would best meet the needs of Western.
The next advising task force is scheduled to meet on Monday, February 19, at 3:30 p.m.
