The NETL project is coming to fruition. A number of faculty have worked collaboratively to upgrade their online classes and are working on spring classes.
The Library is on extended hours for last minute crammers.
Jason Collet and Rick O’Ryan put in place scripting that allows them to check from home to see if servers respond or not. This should help us know sooner if our servers go down over the holidays.
The Infrastructure list was discussed last week and a new list can be gotten from appropriate VP
The landscaping for PD Martinez is being discussed. The building will be open for spring classes.
FACT III renovation is virtually complete.
The Harlan Hall design process will begin after the first of the year.
We have made a lease agreement with Verizon; a tower will be placed near James Stadium.
We are pursuing external security cameras for campus based on a grant Deb Martinez received from Homeland Security money.
The January general assembly will discuss faculty evaluation and decide whether we need to buy all faculty a copy of the monograph describing the process that is being discussed.
Next day after General Assembly Tom Gruszka will be discussing new CUPA categories.
Student Senate distributed eight Thanksgiving dinners to deserving students.
On Dec 2, Student Senate hosted a Casino Night and donated the can goods collected for admission to the Gospel Mission food. Approximately 50 students attended. Lots of great prizes were given.
Student Senate has a giving tree on Third Floor of the SMB. There will be a clothing drive this week also. Students who are moving out of the residence halls and have unwanted clothing will be targeted. The clothing will be taken to Gospel Mission. Student Senate and Gamma Alpha Gamma Psi are collaborating on this. The clothing drive starts today at 6:00 pm
Student Government met with Manny Herrera to discuss their capital requests. Student Government will also lobby for. gas chromatograph mass spectrometer.
Student Government will conduct focus groups with students to help us understand how students will use the Kiosks we have bought.
In Student Senate, the VP and Treasurer have resigned as well as a couple of senators. Send good students who are interested in Student Government to talk with Jasmine Fallstich.
Irene Meares is creating a marketing WNMU class to be offered in the spring. It will be work product oriented. The President, VPs, Deans, directors, and chairs are urged to take is.
Lloyd Cowling has worked with the math faculty to increase the credit hours for students taking developmental math courses. This will have a dual benefit; students will get the needed extra help and we will realize additional credit hours. Paper work regarding this change will be given to the C&I Committee; Faye Vowell authorized the change to go into effect for the spring although it will not be officially voted on by C&I until the end of January.
The Jazz Ensemble gave a great concert the other night.
Chuck Cunningham and the Heard were wonderful at the Faculty Staff Service Awards Banquet last Friday night.
Santa left a present for Cabinet--an ELMO doll. ELMO stands for Enough. Let's Move On. We will use it in future meetings.
The Employee survey sessions were attended by 47 people. Kathie Gilbert compiled a list of what needs to be followed up. Not too many faculty attended. Thanks to Business faculty who attended.
We are working on making comment boxes electronic. The program will be called the Mustang Messenger. It will have the same form as the paper process. This process is anonymous. The advantage is that responses to comments can be given immediately.
A Strategy Forum preparation meeting takes place a 10:00 today. We must give some information to AQIP by January 3. A total of 9 people will be attending the Strategy Forum. Staff Senate is still looking at the topics that were sent to them from Faculty Senate.
Kathie Gilbert will be chairing the Screning committee for the Data Analysis person. Their work will start this week.
Julie Morales will attend a SIGRID media workshop
The Prospectors are meeting on Thursday in the SMB
The next Alumni Bulletin will be out in the new year.
Athletics and Business Affairs donated several items to the Rotary silent auction on March 19: a letter jacket and ed rec passes.
The Playas grand opening was attended by Donna Rees and Tony Macias.
Grades are due on Friday at noon
Donna Rees met with Gallup legislators, Senator Rinaldi and Rep Harrison, to show them how we spent the money they gave us.
We are getting all of the Teach for American candidates--none are gong to UNM
The BIA has said we can work with teachers from schools not in corrective action.
Gallup has hired a new tech support analyst, Raquel Billy.
Donna Rees has been contacted by Roger Gillespie working in CYFD to provide early childhood training to remote areas in NM. She will set up a meeting with Terry Anderson.
There will be a Board of Regents meeting on Friday at 2:00.
The Governor will be here at 9:00 on Wednesday in the GRC to make an announcement. We are not aware of the topic.
For the spring, we have 125 new students and over 300 applicants.
The President thanked the Cabinet for all the work they do.
Our next Cabinet will be on Tuesday, 11 January in Hunter Hall.
