3 December 2002 Cabinet Minutes
· Cabinet did an improvement scorecard exercise that generated 15 flip chart pages of improvements. Kathie Gilbert will send them out separately.
· Academic Council meets this Thursday.
· Faculty Senate meets today.
· Tomorrow is the AQIP Quarterly Meeting. Teams will give us an update on action so far.
· Admissions reports 287 applications for spring; this is roughly the same as last year.
· Preregistration for the spring: 998 have preregistered.
· Orientation tentative dates for next year: May 17, June 28, July 19 and August 2.
· There was a fire at Muir Heights over the weekend.
· About 500 students have qualified for WIA funds, not all are displaced miners.
· Dec 17 is the date for the next Coalition Meeting.
· Roland Shook was invited to the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance meeting to discuss advising. Some issues still exist. Space issues in Watts continue to be a problem. Tony Macias, Gwen Cassel, Faye Vowell and Pat McIntire need to meet soon. Gwen Cassel will arrange the meeting.
· The side parking lot at WATTS is not lit and it needs to be. People feel vulnerable. Faculty would like keys to the front door.
· The last Banner HR training is taking place this week.
· There will be some payroll changes that will be communicated in writing and at Faculty and Staff Senates.
· Basketball men and women have begun their seasons.
· Mary Billings will be in Lordsburg today giving asset tests to students interested in the educational assistants degee.
· The virtual network has been completed with T or C coming online.
· Honors Breakfast and Commencement planning is proceeding.
· Steve Reed has resigned effective the end of this semester. Faye Vowell is exploring options for an interim director.
· Tony Macias is finalizing the Upward
Bound proposal.
· The WATTS Hall hookup on the community educational channel is now operational.
· The Lottery Board will be featuring all institutions in its ads.
· There will be a Choir concert this weekend.
· Party on Friday. Last call for dinner will be 7:00. The Choir will also perform a couple of numbers for us.
· The Service Awards ceremony will take place at the party Friday.
· President Counts gave an overview of the proposed new funding formula.
