It is expected that these groups will report progress on their activities to the General Assembly and the Staff Senate at the monthly meeting and will post minutes on a web page for all the University community to view.
This task force will continue work begun last year; its work is also supportive of the work of the Retention PMT. Its charge will be to evaluate the experimental freshman seminar which is being taught this fall and to recommend a curriculum for a freshman seminar that will impact a larger number of students. The Task Force will be responsible for proposing the course to the Curriculum and Instruction Committee, designing a way to staff the course and a way to implement it full scale in fall 2001. It will also design the training for instructors of the course and deliver the training in spring 2001. It will also design an evaluation process to assess the course outcomes. Although these tasks will be accomplished this academic year, the task force will continue its work in 2001-2002 to evaluate the success of the course and recommend necessary changes in content, delivery, and training of instructors.
