Subject: First Graduate Council Meeting

I apologize that I dropped the ball and did not realize I was to call the first meeting. As you can see, my office needs Maria's replacement as soon as possible. Four of us eventually arrived at the same place (Tom Gruszka, Elaine Jordan, Ruth Galaz, and I). We discussed the following issues:

· In terms of a chair, Tom, Elaine, and Gloria have a recent history of service on this council and so would form a pool of potential chairs. Please come to the next meeting prepared to vote for one of them or to volunteer to chair it. Both Tom and Elaine are willing to serve.
· We brainstormed issues that we thought the Graduate Council should address. They include the following:

1. Issues left over from last year? For example, the survey of the duties of graduate assistants.
2. Graduate catalog issues
3. Advising issues/degree plan changes
4. Non -degree student regulations
5. School psychology program
6. Appeal procedure for students who want to return to school after disqualification.

I will ask Norma to secure one of the AV rooms for our next meeting which will be on October 18 at 3:30.
