SILVER CITY—A production of “Grease” with a Western New Mexico
University slant is one of the many activities planned for Homecoming 2004 in
October. An open audition for roles in the “Grease” production is
scheduled on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in Light Hall Auditorium.
“We want as many people in the production as are interested. We want to
get all of Silver City involved in it. Young and old, everyone is welcome to
join us. They don’t have to know how to sing or dance,” said Patsy
Madrid, Grant County Alumni Chapter Homecoming Chairperson.
“The alumni did a skit from ‘Grease’ for the Great Race in
April and the audience loved it so much and we had so much fun doing it, we
thought we would put together a production following the talent show for Homecoming,”
said Madrid.
This production is really “Grease” at WNMU not Rydell High. Instead
of the pink ladies and T-Birds, we will have purple ladies and Mustang guys.
It is going to be a blast, she added.
The production will feature an alumni cast and a younger cast with flashbacks
on WNMU memories and songs from “Grease.”
Many of the costumes will feature vintage clothing from that period provided
by Madrid’s downtown shop “Vintage Fantasies.”
Refreshments will be served at the audition.
