WNMU MUSEUM’S 30TH ANNIVERSARY BLACK-ON-WHITE EVENT

Western New Mexico University Museum is celebrating its 30th Anniversary with a Black-on-White Gala on Saturday, November 6. The black-tie, black-on-white themed fundraiser will recognize the 30 years the University Museum has been open to the public with a pre-dinner cocktail hour sponsored by WNMU President, Dr. John Counts and guitar music by Dr. Alireza Arasteh followed by a sumptuous buffet dinner and an equally delicious dessert and champagne toast catered by Sodexho. After dinner listening and dance Melanie Zipin and the Overtones will provide music.

Various businesses and individuals have underwritten the 30th Anniversary Black-on-White Gala enabling the proceeds from the individual dinner reservations to be used for upgrading the existing museum infrastructure. Sponsors, by sponsorship level designated by prehistoric Mimbres pottery names, of this event include Richard and June Rhoades, and Phelps Dodge Mining Corporation at the Mimbres Polychrome level, contribution of $2000. Sponsors at the Mimbres Transitional Black-on-white level, contribution $1000, include Neysa Pritikin-Wells Fargo Home Mortage and Southwest Concrete and Paving/Hamilton Construction.

Mimbres Boldface Black-on-white level sponsors, contribution of $500, include AmBank, Anonymous, William L. Bettison, III, Bright Funeral Home-Harry and Linda Bright, Chuck Johnson-State Farm Insurance, Holiday Inn Express-Lanny and Jill Olson, WNMU Regent Stephen Janos, Joyce Knaus-in Memory of Frank Knaus, Linda and John McGee, Scott and Belinda Mills, Scott Nichols Toyota, The Rotary Club of Silver City, and Texas New Mexico Power.

Friends of the University Museum, contribution of $100 to $499, include Kenneth and Gretchen Bryan, Former WNMU Regent Dr. David Darling, Eileen K. Following the black-tie, black-on-white theme male guests are requested to wear black-tie and female guests are encouraged to wear any combination of black-on-white dress.
In preparation for the 30th Anniversary Black-on-white Gala, the University Museum will be closed to the public from Friday, November 4, 2004 through Sunday, November 7, 2004. The museum will reopen with regular hours on Monday, November 8. For more information, call the Museum staff at 538-6386.
