SILVER CITY—A Cardio Pilates class will
be offered through the Western New Mexico University Extended University office
beginning in September.
The
mat-based Pilates course teaches that our body is the only equipment necessary
for achieving physical fitness. It
strengthens and tones the muscles, improves balance, posture, and flexibility
creating a redefined physique.
Regardless of your activity level, whether a beginner or an athlete,
Pilates is a great form of exercise that can be enjoyed by all.
Instructor
Aurelia Ford-Carey comes to New Mexico from the Cleveland, Ohio area with over
15 years experience in the health and fitness industry as a group exercise
instructor. She is certified through the
National Exercise Trainer's Association (NETA) for both Group
Exercise and Personal Training as well as her current CPR certification. In Ohio, Aurelia taught at six health club
facilities ranging from 5,000 to over 10,000 membership base. She taught classes that included Bootcamp,
Kickboxing, Interval, Circuit, High and Low Impact Aerobics, Spinning, Yoga,
Aqua, Pilates, Stability Ball, Strength Training, Power Pump as well as
One-On-One Personal Training.
Classes
will be offered on Mondays and Fridays from noon to 1 p.m. at the Dance Studio
in the WNMU P.E. Complex from Sept. 12 through Dec. 5. The cost is $45 per month or $146 for 13
weeks. Students may register at the
Extended University office located in Bowden Hall Room 234 or call 538-6149. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a
mat.
