WNMU MUSEUM PRESS RELEASE

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

 

Discovered! is the theme of the juried art exhibition sponsored by the Western New Mexico University Museum.  The exhibition will run from Sept. 30 through Dec. 1, 2005.  Discovered! seeks to explore the breadth that creative expression has within the WNMU Community.  Please join us at the museum on Friday, Sept. 30, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the opening reception.  Awards will be one of a kind hand-painted miniature Mimbres bowls by Ancient Life Pottery (Paul & Laurel Thornburg) and they will be presented at 5 p.m.  The show was juried by Diana Ingalls Leyba and Harry Benjamin. 

 

Entries include artwork created by WNMU students, faculty and staff.  Departments represented are Academic Support, Counseling, Expressive Arts, Information Technology, Humanities, Miller Library, Movement Science, Museum, Social Science, and School of Education.  There are many media represented as well including, Acrylic on Canvas, Drawing, Fiber Arts, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Watercolor, and Wood Turning. 

 

Please join the museum staff and artists for refreshments and light appetizers on Friday, Sept. 30,  in the museum’s 2nd floor Temporary Exhibition Hall in celebration of being Discovered!  This exhibit is sponsored in part by the Associated Students of Western New Mexico University.  The museum hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  For more information please call the WNMU Museum staff at  (505) 538-6386.
