PRESS RELEASE 11/30/05
Western New Mexico University (WNMU) is pleased to announce the next phase of our continuing staff salary review that began in early fall, 2004. This phase will enact an increase to $7.00 per hour as the lowest hourly pay offered to those permanent (full and part time) WNMU employees. Those WNMU employees who currently earn an hourly pay of less than $7.00 will receive an increase in pay to a revised hourly pay of $7.00 effective December 1, 2005. WNMU will continue its comprehensive review of the staff salary plan during the upcoming fiscal year.
“WNMU continues to review salaries and benefits for employees,” said WNMU President John Counts. “As I mentioned earlier this year, this has been under consideration for a long time and we are pleased to be able to accomplish this. We value our outstanding employees, the recruitment of talented individuals and WNMU’s proactive approach to employee compensation.”
Historically, WNMU has shown its strong commitment to its employees. The Board of Regents, the President, Faculty, Staff and Administration share this commitment founded on values such as preeminence in teaching and learning; respect for people, uncompromising integrity and dedication to continuous improvement.
