SILVER CITY—The Western New Mexico University Extended University Office is offering a number of its classes that allows students to earn college credit for participation. Classes begin in January.

Beginning Cinematography teaches students to create art on every frame of film, and study artists and their great art.  Learn to frame a shot using a still camera, use of digital video camera and lighting.  By the end of the course students will have a working knowledge of the art of cinematography.  The three-credit course number is HUM-180-2949.  The class will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10-10:50 a.m. beginning Jan. 11 through May 4.

A Film History I course will be available for three credit hours.  Since cinema began in 1895 it has dazzled, entertained, taught and inspired us.  In this course students will find out how it all began what impact it has made on the world at large. The class will include films from 1895 to 1995.  The course number is HUM-180-2948.  The class will meet on Monday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 23 through March 22, 2006  

A one-credit hour Pilates course will also be offered. Pilates shows students how to strengthen and tone the muscles, improve balance, posture and flexibility creating a redefined physique.  Regardless of your activity level, a beginner or an athlete, Pilates is a great form of exercise.  The course number is MVSC-180-2947.   The class will meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. beginning Jan. 11 through March 31, 2006.

A one-credit hour Cardio Kickboxing course will be offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. beginning Jan. 11 through March 31.  Cardio Kickboxing is an intense cardiovascular and strength conditioning class incorporating non-contact boxing and karate techniques, using jabs, kicks, and punches and focusing on core strength to reshape your body!  The course number is MVSC-180-2946.
