Attention Writers!  Free Class on Freelance Writing

A frequent teacher at UTEP, the University of New Mexico, writers' groups, and other universities will hold  workshops in Silver City for people who want to earn money writing for magazines.  The first session on March 4, 2006 will be held for individuals who seriously plan to work part-time or full-time working with trade and commercial magazines that pay from $100 to $1000+ per article.

"Most people don't know," said Ted Lynn, the instructor with more than 1,000 articles to his credit, "that there are literally thousands of magazines published each month, but the majority are not available for purchase.  They're sent to people in a particular trade, such as banking, automotive, beauty, travel, veterinary, and many more industries.  And many pay as well as the commercial magazines you can purchase at the news stand.  You can make a very comfortable living writing for them."

The class, sponsored by Silver City/Grant County Economic Development (SIGRED), is designed to use the power of the writing community to let people around the country know about this area and its people.

"Although the class, and a follow-up session, are free to the participants, there is going to be a cost.  Writers will have to have access to a computer, purchase some reference materials, and obligate themselves to writing queries and articles on a schedule under this program.  Details of the obligations of the instructor and the students, the time and place for the first class, and other information will be E-mailed to those who express a serious interest in expanding their horizons.

Those who are interested should send an E-mail, Subject:  "SIGRED Class," to <ted@writerscenter.com> as soon as possible.  Class size is limited.
