The community is invited to attend
“What I did after I left Silver City” an exhibit showing the sculpture, prints
and drawings of John Battenberg at the WNMU McCray Gallery on March 10 through
April 13, 2006 (Closed during Spring recess: March 20-24). The opening reception will be from 4:30 pm to 6:30 on Friday, March 10. The gallery is open weekdays 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Admission is free.
Mr. Battenberg will also give an
artist lecture in the WNMU Besse Forward Auditorium in the Global Resources
Center immediately following
the reception on Friday, March 10 at 6:30
pm. This lecture is part of
an Artist Lecture Series sponsored by the Mimbres Region Arts Council and WNMU
Expressive Arts Department.
John Battenberg was born in Wisconsin in 1931. He received MFA’s from Michigan State University
and California School of Arts and Crafts. John has resided professionally as an
artist in both Italy
and England
for five years. He was a Professor of Sculpture at San Jose University
and holds the title of Professor Emeritus. He left his professorship to pursue
his sculpture full time. He has completed many large Public and Private Commissions
in the United States
and Europe. His work can be found in museums,
galleries, and universities throughout the world.
