SPANISH SPELLING BEE TO BE HELD ON
WESTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY CAMPUS
 
 

The Humanities Department of Western New Mexico University, in conjunction with the Office of Student Activities/Multicultural Affairs and the Southwest Hispanic Roundtable will be sponsoring a Spanish language spelling bee.  The event will be held  at 7 p.m. on April 1, 2006 at the Besse-Forward Global Resource Center Auditorium and a reception will be held following the presentation of prizes.
 
  The contest is open to anyone from Grade 6 to adult, including students, university employees and community members.  There will be cash prizes for the top three spellers and there will also be other prizes for the top three spellers in 5 different categories: 6th – 8th grade, 9th – 12th grade, university student, university employee and community member.
 
 Anyone interested in competing may pick up a spelling list, a copy of the rules and a registration form from the Department of Humanities or the office of Student Activities/Multicultural Affairs. Requests for materials may also be made via e-mail to Professor Patricia Cano at canop1@excite.com.
