SILVER CITY- The Western New Mexico University Department of
Expressive Arts is offering a number of scholarships for the 2006 fall
semester. Scholarships include the DeGrazia Scholarship in Fine Arts,
Francis McCray Art Scholarship, Lorraine Schula Art Scholarship, John
Stermer Art Scholarship and the Chase Webb Art Scholarship.
In order to qualify for the art scholarships, applicants must maintain
a 3.0 grade point average in the area of the award and successfully
meet the general WNMU grade standard for non-probationary students.
Applicants must provide a resume and a portfolio which should include
slides or photographs and actual work. A minimum of 10 artworks/slides
and a maximum of 20 all total artwork/slides are required for the
portfolio.
All applicants are subject to a portfolio examination and approval by
the art faculty. These scholarships are reserved for students of
superior talent who demonstrate artistic achievement and who serve as
role models for other art students.
Applications are available through the Expressive Arts Department
located in the Parotti Building. Applications for both scholarships are
due by noon on Thursday, April 6, 2006.
