Silver City—The Western New Mexico University Multicultural Affairs/ Student Activities Department and Sodexho is sponsoring events throughout the month of March in acknowledgement of Women’s History Month.
On Friday, March 17, there will be a Top O’ The Morning Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration located on the first floor of the Thomas B. McDonald Student Memorial Center. Irish Coffee, tea and Irish soda bread will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Later that afternoon there will be a St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Mustang Dining Hall. On the menu is corned beef and cabbage, boiled new potatoes, steamed carrots, and St. Patrick’s Day cookies. The cost of the meal will be $5.68 per person, if not on the WNMU meal plan.
On Tuesday, March 28, there will be a seminar on the “Issues Affecting Female Students at WNMU.” This will be located on the third floor of the Thomas B. McDonald Student Memorial Center Seminar Room from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
On Wednesday, March 29, from 11 a .m. to 1:30 p .m. there will be a presentation titled a “Smart Cookie- Understanding the Wage Gap,” on the first floor of the Thomas B. McDonald Student Memorial Center.
On Wednesday, March 29, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Thomas B. McDonald Student Memorial Center, make-up artist Raven Hogan, a WNMU student and Cienega Spa staff member, will be demonstrate a spa make-over on a lucky winner. To enter the contest for a free make-over, stop by the MASA office to enter your name for the drawing.
On Friday, March 31, from 2 p. m. to 4 p. m. there will be a Women’s History Month Tea located on the third floor of the Thomas B. McDonald Student Memorial Center. It will be a casual dress tea to celebrate who you are.
Women’s History Month activities will conclude with a Welcome Reception for Dr. Patricia Manzanares–Gonzales, the new dean of the school of education, on Friday, March 31, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Thomas B. McDonald Student Memorial Center Seminar Room.
