SILVER CITY--The Western New Mexico University Extended University will be offering a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course beginning April 17 through May 31, 2006.  

This course is to train instructor candidates to teach water safety, including the Basic Water Rescue course, six levels of the Learn to Swim, and Parent and Child

Aquatics.  Students must be at least 16 years of age and already have current Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR and First-Aid certifications.  Tina Ely will be the instructor.

Classes will meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the WNMU swimming pool.

Wednesdays will be classroom time in the P.E. Complex from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Cost is $15 per student and a $69 fee to be paid to the instructor at first class meeting for books required.
