SILVER CITY--Eighteen employers have registered as of April 18 for the first annual Spring Job Fair to be held in the Western New Mexico University Graham Gym from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2006.  This event is co-sponsored by the WNMU Career Services and the New Mexico Department of Labor/Silver City Workforce Connection and is held in conjunction with the WNMU Student Research Symposium.

The registered employers include the U.S. Army, New Mexico Army National Guard, The Wellness Coalition Americorps, Ft. Bayard Medical Center, Internal Revenue Service, Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department, SEABHS (Southeastern Arizona Behavioral Health Services), U.S. Customs & Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Border Area Mental Health Services, N.M. Human Services Department, Teleperformance, Arizona-Department of Corrections, N.M. Bureau of Land Management, N.M. State Parks, Harris Corporation, Wells Fargo Bank, and James Hamilton Construction.

“This is the first time we have planned a career fair in the spring.  We are very pleased with the response so far and plans are in the works for another career fair in the spring next year,” said Marie Leck, Career Services director.  “Employers are continuing to express interest and we will update the list as they register.  It’s still not too late for businesses to register!”

WNMU students, alumni, area high school students and members of the community are invited to discuss career opportunities with representatives from various government agencies, private industry and school districts.
