A graduation ceremony for the 51 st graduating class of the Western New Mexico University Police Academy was held on June 29. Pictured is WNMU President John E. Counts congratulating Officer Melinda White, the only female in the group of 14 graduates of the academy this year. The keynote speaker for the ceremony was Grant County Sheriff Raul “Bully” Holguin. The graduates completed some 900 hours of law enforcement training during a 24-week period.The next Police Academy class is set to begin in January 2007.
