SILVER CITY-Classes are set to begin on Monday, August 21, at Western New Mexico University.  Also kicking off on Monday is Spirit Week 2006 activities.
Beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, coffee and homemade cookies will be provided at the Thomas B. McDonald Student Memorial Building first floor area.
On Tuesday, August 22, poster painting for the first home football game of the season will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SMB first floor.

Wednesday will feature an Ice Cream Social from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SMB first floor.

United Blood Services will have a mobile unit parked in front of the SMB on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Blood donors will receive a free t-shirt provided by United Blood Services.

A Botana will be held on Friday featuring refreshments, entertainment, music and giveaways from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in front of the SMB.

The football season opener will kickoff at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, at the WNMU Ben Altamirano Stadium.  The WNMU Mustangs will face-off against the Ft. Lewis College Skyhawks.  The admission to the game is $6 for adults, $4 for students without an ID and $2 for children under six years of age.  WNMU students and employees with ID’s are admitted free of charge.

Spirit Week activities will culminate on Sunday, August 27, with the Painting of the “W” activities.  Transportation will be provided to "W" Mountain at 9 a.m.  The vans will depart from the SMB.  Water and soft drinks will be provided on the mountain to all participants.

Spirit Week events are sponsored by Multicultural Affairs/ Student Activities.  The public is encouraged to participate in all activities.
