SILVER CITY—Streets along the Western New Mexico University Homecoming 2006 Parade route will be closed beginning 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28.
The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. from the Juan Chacon Building parking lot down College Avenue, right on Bullard Street, right on Broadway and conclude at the Grant County Courthouse.
Community and university entrants are invited to participate in the parade. The parade marshal is Eva Weaver. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, at the Alumni Garden just east of Hunter Hall for her husband, Earl Weaver, who passed away early this year. Mr. Weaver was an alumnus of the university and worked as the director of the university bookstore and the purchasing department from graduation in 1951 until his retirement in 1980.
The Homecoming game featuring the WNMU Mustangs versus the Panhandle State University Aggies will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the WNMU Altamirano Field.
