SILVER CITY--Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People! Your former piano teacher might not approve, but thousands have learned the secret of how to play piano without reading music. If you've ever wondered how it's done, mark November 28th, 6:30-9:30 p.m. on your calendar. That's when Western New Mexico University's Extended University office will be bringing Craig Coffman in to teach the nationally reknowned "How To Play Piano in Three Hours" workshop.
Coffman's class materials are accessible and practical, and allow a person with little or no experience to start on the road to and eventually achieve professional playing skills. While knowing how to read the treble clef is a good foundation, many students take the workshop with no prior piano experience. Students will learn how to use chords instead of traditional note-by-note music reading. Will also learn to use sheet music in an entirely new way that is extremely simple, and they'll discover many of the magical shortcuts that the pros use to enhance their playing. After this workshop students will know how to play any pop tune with both hands using this system.
This workshop will take place in Light Hall Room 104 and the cost will be $25 per person. There will be a materials fee that is to be paid to the instructor at the first class meeting. Students interested in registering for this class can do so by coming to the Extended University office located in Bowden Hall Room 234 or call 538-6149.
