SILVER CITY—A Beginning Yang-Style Taijiquan (Tai-Chi Chuan) class is being offered at Western New Mexico University beginning Jan. 17.
The course is an introduction to
both Neidan (internal) and Weidan (external) Qigong forms through standing and
moving practice. Deep breathing
techniques and the circulation of Qi (Chi) through the Governing , Conception,
and Thrusting channels of the body will be offered as well as techniques of
centering, grounding, and rooting.
Intensive instruction in Yang-Style Taijiquan (Tai-Chi Chuan), middle length
form, along with corresponding breathing will be provided.
Dr. Frank Juszczyk, a student and
teacher of Chinese internal arts for 30 years, will be instructor. His lineage is of the Tang Shou Dao
School founded by Master Hong I-Xiang in Taiwan.
The class may be
taken for a one credit hour or for non-credit. The one credit hour course number is MVSC-180-2995 and is
held from Jan. 17 through March 30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 p.m. to
3:50 p.m. Two non-credit
eight-week classes will be
held on Jan. 17 through March 7 and March 14 through May 4. The cost of the non-credit courses is
$60 per person per session. The non-credit classes and one-credit class will be
offered concurrently at the Brancheau P.E. Complex dance studio.
