SILVER CITY--Auditions for “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings,” from a short story by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, winner of the Nobel Prize for literature, and written by Pulitzer Prize winner Nilo Cruz will be held on Sept. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Western New Mexico University Fine Arts Center Theatre.
This short play will be presented bilingually with music. Knowledge of Spanish and English is helpful but not required for a role. In addition to roles back stage assistance is needed. Please come by if you are interested in just helping out!
The production features children and adults and will be presented on Dec. 7 through Dec. 9 at the FACT. The director for the play is Ann Marie Elder.
Available roles include Afar, an old man; man with the Panama hat and narrator (can be any age); Pelayo, the father (middle age); Momo, a young boy (ages 10-13); Fefe, Momo’s sister (ages 10-15); girl with a box of prayers (any age); woman who has been crying (any age); Tailor (any age); Spider woman (any age); Juan Jose (any age); and Cirilo, a policeman (any age).
Some roles can double. No children under the age of 10. Individuals are asked to bring a story to tell at the audition.
