SUBJECT: WNMU MUSEUM CLOSED FOR CONTINUED RENOVATION AND WINTER HOLIDAY BREAK

The Western New Mexico University Museum will close to the public on Monday, Dec. 17, for next phase of renovation and will re-open with regular hours on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008 after the University’s scheduled winter holiday break.

 

Phase II of the WNMU Museum’s continuing Revitalizing History Project renovations begins on Monday, Dec. 17, with the refinishing of the wood floors located in the main entry foyer, and the repair and the refinishing of wood floors located in the second floor hallway. Due to the locations of the refinishing projects and the refinishing process, no entry to the Museum will be permitted from Monday, Dec. 17, 2007 through Friday, Dec. 21, 2007.

 

The WNMU Museum will be closed during the University’s Winter Holiday Break, Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 through Jan. 6, 2008.

 

Phase II of the WNMU Museum Revitalizing History Project is funded through a 2007 Legislative appropriation of $50,000 for continued museum renovation supplemented by University infrastructure funds. The first part of Phase II will include the refinishing of wood floors located in the main entry foyer, the second floor hallways, and the 4 th floor mezzanine and landing plus the refinishing of the main grand staircase and 2 nd floor back staircase risers and treads. Phase II is also expected to include the renovation of windows and exterior doors.

 

Regular Museum hours of operation will resume on Monday, Jan. 7, 2007, although sections of the Museum will be closed to public access due to various wood refinishing projects.
