AWARD WINNING ARTIST TO PLAY AT WNMU

 

SILVER CITY, N.M. – This year’s Guest Artist Series at Western New Mexico University will have its final installment with a special guest appearance by Laura Spitzer.

An award winning pianist, Spitzer will hold a master class (clinic) at 12:30pm and a concert at 7pm on Thursday, April 17. Both events will be at the Parotti Recital Hall on campus.

Spitzer has studied in Ohio, at the highly selective Oberlin College, and in Austria where she graduated with distinction in 1976. She completed her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in piano performance from the University of Southern California in 2000. That same year she joined the faculty at New Mexico State University where she serves as Associate Professor of Music and Pianist in Residence.

The Guest Artist Series is provided through funding from the WNMU Music Foundation, an account funded by donations and private sponsorship. Both events are free to the public. For more information contact the WNMU Music Department at 538-6618.
