2004

During the 2004 school year, the American Democracy Project here at Western, targeted the freshman seminar classes in find out their concerns. Note cards were given during class. The results were thrown into a hat. Themes were chosen for the multi media performances. Student responses were similar in many ways.

2005

During the 2005 school year, the American Democracy Project here at Western, targeted thought we should move to the next level: Into the community.

The students of the freshmen seminar class were given an assignment –
1.         Personal interviews with a community “leader”,
2.         Synthesize that interview into a personal monologue.

Three live monologues were presented:  they gave a different prospective on “Life in Silver City ”  - the good points, the bad, the needs, “why I stay here” and “why I live here”.
