Early Alert Program

The Early Alert Program is designed to enhance student success at Western New Mexico University. In an effort to assist and retain students that are at risk of failing, dropping out of a course or withdrawing from the University we have established an Early Alert program, administered by the Academic Support Center (ASC), to reach these students and offer the supportive services necessary for them to be successful.

Instructors are asked to identify students that are having difficulties that affect their academic performance, and might need assistance in their classes. Students who are having difficulties in these areas are candidates for Early Alert:

  • Low test/essay/quiz/assignment scores
  • Incomplete or missing assignments
  • Excessive absences and tardiness
  • Unprepared for class meetings/does not bring required materials to class
  • Lack of required skills (math, communication, time management, etc.)
  • External distractions (athletics, home, work, finances, etc.)

Please call the Academic Support Center at 575-538-6400 for additional information or assistance.
