ASWNMU SENATE MEETING I. Call to Order II. Pledge of Allegiance III. Roll Call B. Senator Ortiz was named as the Sargent at Arms. IV. Approval of Agenda B. Senator Franzoy moved to approve the amended agenda and Senator Romano seconded. The motion carried 12-0. V. Approval of the Minutes VI. Executive Council Reports B. Vice President Denton needs the Senate information sheets back as soon as possible. She also listed the Senators who currently have absences: Senator Ortiz (2), Senator Romano (1), Senator Franzoy (1), Senator Zankich (1), Senator Bruchhauser (1, Senator Goodliffe (2), and Senator Talimatasi (2). She said that the Senator checks will be out this Friday and next semester the Senators will be paid like work-studies, biweekly. C. Secretary Ambriz said congratulations to graduates and good luck to the Senate on their finals. He stated that The Record would be out tomorrow. D. Treasurer Carrillo said thanks for all the cooperation in her first week. She stated that the remaining budget for the rest of the year is $1,527.68. E. Attorney General Hazlett said that four clubs qualify for money from the Senate and he urges the Senate to approve the money for them. He also reviewed Mr. Coffett's work on the Article IV and he congratulated the graduates. F. Public Relations Officer Bocanegra said that there is an Open Forum concerning housing, advising, and television and he encourages the Senate to attend. He thanks the Senate for given him this opportunity to be involved in Student Government. G. Governmental Affairs Director Rutherford had nothing to report. H. President Zuniga said that AQUIP is changing their advising. The AQUIP community is giving the survey and findings were to find the top five priorities of the committee. Senator Ortiz aid that the Health Services Committee will meet Friday from 10:00-12:00 and they encourage students to go by. VII. Old Business VIII. New Business B. Mr. Levi Coffelt is participating in an internship to update Article IV. He is doing this based on the National State models. He spoke about the changes he hopes to do. He wants to remove unnecessary information and hopefully add better and more useful information. Attorney General Hazlett suggested to the Senate that they table the issue and look over the work that Mr. Coffelt has done. Pro Tempore Preston moved to table the issue until next meeting. Senator Franzoy seconded. The motion carried 12-0. IX. Announcements B. President Zuniga said that next semester there will be a workshop for student's government. She also asked the Senate to check there e-mail more often to get news quicker. She congratulated the graduates. C. Vice President Denton said that she needs the Senates information sheets as soon as possible. X. Adjournment |
